This 'volume two' does contain a lot of letters (in contrast to 'volume one', which reads more like a autobiography). There are not only letters written by darwin in this volume, but also a lot of letters written to Darwin. Because of this you can follow discussions between friends and fellow scientists through a number of letters. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in Charles Darwin. This book gives insight, not only in his work, but also in his personal life.

To give you an idea of what the book is like I copy the first two phrases of the first letter (Chapter 1.IV.--Cambridge Life--1828-1831)
After having spent two sessions in Edinburgh, my father perceived, or he
heard from my sisters, that I did not like the thought of being a
physician, so he proposed that I should become a clergyman. He was very
properly vehement against my turning into an idle sporting man, which then
seemed my probable destination.
one of my vavorites..
Excellent Foundation Literature on this subject. Well written and stands as seminal treatise.
Very interesting and entertaining!
As described. Thanks!
